How Khaby Lame become so popular?

After becoming popular on TikTok for creating videos that would have anybody rolling on the floor laughing, he gained international attention. Reason behind Khaby Lame popularity

An Opportunity

To find work, he stayed at his parents’ house in Chivasso with his three siblings, where he spent his days searching for opportunities. He eventually downloaded TikTok and began experimenting with it in his bedroom, uploading videos of himself under the alias Khaby Lame. He eventually became famous for his videos. And slowly but steadily, an unexpected career began to take shape.

Like many TikTokers, he began by uploading videos of himself dancing, playing video games, or doing comedic acts on the platform. His subsequent parody of the life-hack films that flooded social media platforms — responding to them with a blank shrug or an expression of annoyance — caught on, and he became a viral sensation.

Lame (pronounced Lah-MAY) is now the most followed guy on TikTok, having amassed a following of 114 million people. Dancer Charli D’Amelio, a California adolescent who uploads fun videos frequently with her elder sister Dixie, is the only other individual who has surpassed him in popularity.

Lame, who is 21 years old, does all of this without uttering a word. His deafening silence on TikTok says volumes.

Lame is a slim Senegalese guy with long limbs and an expressive face who lives in the United States. Throughout the majority of his films, he parodies footage of people performing excessively complex hacks by responding with a simpler, more logical method of performing the same job.

Silence as a Weapon, Expression as a Symbol

Because of his quiet yet passionate responses, he has become one of the most famous digital artists on social media platforms.

“Perhaps because my facial expressions are amusing and make people laugh, this simplicity makes people laugh, and I like it,” Lame said.

According to one marketer, the success of Lame’s films demonstrates how nonverbal communication can bridge cultural and linguistic divides and foster relationships across civilizations.
