How To Block Personal Contacts on Tinder?
If you’re single and looking for love, you may have heard of Tinder. Tinder is a popular dating app that allows you to swipe right or left on potential matches. If you’re interested in someone, you swipe right. If you’re not interested, you swipe left. If someone you’ve swiped right on also swipes right on you, it’s a match! You can then chat with your match and see where things go.
Tinder is a great way to meet new people, whether you’re looking for a relationship or just looking to have some fun. Tinder is easy to use, and you can connect with people from all over the world.
Why Would Someone Block Personal Contacts on Tinder?
There are a few reasons why someone might want to block personal contacts on Tinder. One is that they don’t want their friends, family, or co-workers to see that they’re using the app. This can be for a variety of reasons, including embarrassment or privacy concerns. Additionally, someone may not want to be matched with anyone they know in real life. They may want to keep their dating life separate from their personal life, or they may be concerned about potential awkwardness if they’re matched with someone they know.
Another reason to block personal contacts on Tinder is to avoid unwanted messages. If someone has your phone number or email address, they may try to contact you outside of the app. This can be especially bothersome if you’re not interested in them or if they’re being harassing. Additionally, you may not want to give out your personal information to someone you’ve just met online.
Users may now delete personal contacts from Tinder’s phone book, which may be beneficial if you’re seeking for someone to date.
The new block contacts option in profile settings gives users more control over their experience. When using Tinder, a user can choose which of their contacts they do not want to see or be seen by.
According to the app, such connections will not appear as a possible match on Tinder, regardless of whether they are currently on the app or desire to download it later using the same contact information.
If you want to block someone who isn’t already in your contact list, you have two options: either you can share the contact list from your device with Tinder and select the contacts that you want to ban, or you may manually enter the contact information for the person you want to block.
“Banned contacts will not be alerted that you have blocked them, and barring contacts has no effect on your existing matches or messages,” Tinder explained. Members who used the Block Contacts tool added approximately a dozen contacts to their block list after it was tested in India, Korea, and Japan, it added.
“We may not be able to spare you from embarrassing coffee shop encounters, but we are providing you more control over your Tinder experience,” said Bernadette Morgan, Tinder’s group product manager, Trust & Safety. “We are launching Block Contacts as an extra resource to provide members with peace of mind by assisting in the creation of a worry-free environment for them to spark new connections.”
More than 40% of people who responded to a Tinder-commissioned survey said they met an ex-partner on a dating app. In addition, 24% of people have looked at the profile of a family member, coworker, or even a professor.
How to block Personal Contacts on Tinder?
If you’re sick of your Tinder matches trying to spam you with unsolicited messages or seeing people you meet in daily life, there’s a way to block them on the app.
It’s simple! Share your device’s contact list with Tinder and choose the contacts you wish to block:
- Open Tinder and tap the profile icon
- Go to “Settings”
- Scroll down and select “Block Contacts”
- Grant Tinder permission to access your contacts
- Under the “Contacts” tab, select people you want to avoid from your contact list
- Tap “Block Contacts”
With this feature, Tinder will access your smartphone’s contact list and allow you to pick who you wish to ban. When you stop using the function, Tinder simply saves the contact information of the individuals you’ve banned (name, email, and/or phone number).
