How to Stop Automatic Download in WhatsApp and Telegram
We are all familiar with WhatsApp messenger and its convenience in staying connected with friends and family.
However, one issue that often crops up is automatic downloads of images and videos, which can quickly consume data and storage space on your device.
Here are some simple steps to disable automatic downloads on WhatsApp and save yourself some precious data and storage:
- Open WhatsApp and go to Settings.
- Tap on Storage and Data.
- Under the Media Auto-Download heading, select when you want WhatsApp to download photos, videos and other media. You can choose from when you’re using WiFi, when you’re on a mobile network or never.

Stop Automatic Download in Telegram

Now, whenever you receive a media file in a chat, it will be automatically downloaded only when you’re connected to Wi-Fi.
You can also stop automatic downloads for a specific chat by going to that chat and tapping on the three dots in the top right corner. Select Chat settings and turn on the Use less data option.
