You’ve just double-clicked an application, game, or installer—maybe an old favourite like a classic game, DaVinci Resolve, MySQL Workbench, tax software, or even a productivity tool—and bam! Windows throws up this intimidating message:

What is MSVCR120.dll?

MSVCR120.dll is a Dynamic Link Library file that’s part of the Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable Package.

Visual Studio 2013 (codenamed VC++ 12.0) developers use these redistributables so their programs can run on your PC without bundling the entire development environment. The “120” in the filename refers to version 12.0—the internal version number for Visual Studio 2013.

Many applications built between roughly 2013 and 2018 (and some legacy or stubborn modern ones) still depend on this exact package. Games (like older titles or those using certain engines), video editing software (DaVinci Resolve has been a frequent culprit), database tools (MySQL Workbench), Adobe products, and even some tax or label-printing software require it.

How to Fix MSVCR120.dll Was Not Found Error

In the vast majority of instances, reinstalling msvcr120.dll to the Windows system folder provides the solution. Alternatively, certain programmes, particularly PC games, require the DLL file to be placed in the game/application installation folder.

If you get the error “code execution cannot proceed because msvcr120.dll was not found” while installing WAMP or while installing any other program, you can fix it simply by downloading this file and pasting it in the C:/Windows/System32

Don’t forget to extract the file and use the DLL file only. You can comment and let me know if you need similar DLL files like MSVCR110.DLL or MSVCR130.DLL.

Good Day.
