A surgical technologist is also known as a scrub tech or operating room technician. They possess high knowledge and skills in sterile and aseptic techniques. They require perfection highly while doing operation and thus they are trained very hard. The main aim for surgical technologists is to anticipate the next move the surgeon is going to make the procedure smooth and efficient. They know hundreds of surgical procedures and various instruments that the surgeon may need.

They receive their training in programs offered by colleges, schools, universities, hospitals and even the military.

The course duration can vary from 12 months to 2 years for completion. They are also required to take high school education for program entrance, and some of them might require prerequisite courses which include anatomy, microbiology, physiology and medical terminology.
