In India, NCR Corporation, a company that makes automated teller machines, or ATMs, has introduced a UPI-enabled interoperable cardless cash withdrawal system. This facility was introduced by the organization in collaboration with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and City Union Bank.
Users will be able to collect money from an ATM without having a physical debit or credit card due to this technology. Around 1,500 of City Union Bank’s ATMs across the country now endorse this technology, according to the bank.
How to Withdraw Money from ATM through UPI?
Users will be able to withdraw money using their cell phones and any UPI-enabled program, such as BHIM, Paytm, GPay, PhonePe, and others, with the aid of this new facility. You won’t need to bring your ATM card with you.
- Go to any ATM that supports this facility and scan the QR code on the machine.
- Enter the same amount you’d like to take out.
- The transaction must be approved using a UPI-enabled mobile app.
- You will be able to withdraw the funds until the transaction has been authorized.
QR codes are complex, which means they shift with each transaction and can’t be replicated. It also means that the exchange takes place in a safe manner. Withdrawals under this new scheme are expected to be limited to Rs 5,000 at first, with the amount likely to be lifted later.
When will this UPI-enabled ATM Facility Be Available?
The NCR Company and the National Payments Corporation of India are actively exploring how this facility can be applied through the country’s ATMs. The two organizations are in close contact with public and private sector banks, and a formal partnership will be confirmed in the coming months.
According to a spokesperson for NCR Corporation, the company has updated its internal applications to allow this feature on City Union ATMs. This facility will be made accessible around the world and there is no need to update the hardware.
