[Fixed] The author stylesheet specified in tag ‘style amp-custom’ is too long

The author stylesheet

If you are getting issues in the Google Search Console, which says “The author stylesheet specified in tag ‘style amp-custom’ is too long – the limit is 75000 bytes” or “The author stylesheet specified in tag ‘style amp-custom’ is too long – the limit is 50000 bytes” there is no need to worry about.

Today, I also got it on my search console, and I found the solution after a little bit of effort. So, I am going to share the solution for it.

In my case, the problem arose from the “AMPforWP” plugin. I had activated the CSS Optimization feature, which is still in beta mode. It means it is not yet stable. So, what I did was just disable the CSS Optimization from settings of the AMPforWP plugin, and my pages were validated again on Search Console.

How to Disable CSS Optimization in AMPforWP plugin?

Step 1: Go to the Settings tab of the AMPforWP plugin.

Step 2: Go to the Performance Section. You will find relevant options there as shown in the screenshot below:

Make sure that the ‘Optimize CSS’ option is unticked. If it is already unticked, untick all minify and leverage the browser caching option. After that, validate your affected pages again on Search Console.
