The Solution to IELTS Essay on Break in Studies

According to some, students who do not take a vacation from their studies between high school and university are at a disadvantage compared to those who travel and find employment after high school before continuing their studies. I agree with the given statement because the latter group of students gains more real-world exposure that helps them in their studies and professional lives.

In the first place, students study theories in school and university. While theoretical knowledge is undeniably essential, employers prioritize practical experience. While certain companies may allow students in their third or fourth year of university to participate in apprenticeships to prepare them for future employment, the brief duration of the work experience compromises the quality of the training provided. Moreover, the actual endeavor continues to be quite foreign to them. Without prior work experience, these graduates are unable to perform their assignments accurately. They may be ridiculed, however, and it costs them time and money to keep up with more seasoned students. As a result, pupils who failed to take breaks would have a diminished contribution in terms of the two most essential factors: expertise and practical knowledge.

Moreover, students who work between high school and university can build a much more solid financial foundation than those who do not. Not every student is fortunate enough to get scholarships or support from their families. In these cases, working and saving money become viable solutions to the problem. Also, the work experience can be valuable for their future career. For example, my friends used to work as newsboys to save money for tuition fees. After graduating from university, he became a reporter because of his previous experience.

In conclusion, students should travel or work before going to university. That way, not only will they have the basic knowledge and skills to get a good job, but it will also make their studies stress-free from financial burdens.
